The wait is almost over.

On Saturday August 1^st, Canterbury Rugby will officially take the field at their new home, One NZ Stadium, and we're celebrating the only way we know how- with a housewarming party worthy of our defending NPC champions.

In a huge boost to what is already shaping up to be one of the biggest nights on Canterbury's sporting calendar, iconic Christchurch band Shapeshifter will perform a special DJ set featuring Nicky Research and frontman P.Digsss at halftime of this opening NPC clash.

It's the perfect way to kick off a new era of rugby in Canterbury, combining provincial rugby, live music, and an unforgettable matchday atmosphere under one roof.

For the group, the opportunity to be part of such a significant moment was one they couldn't pass up.

"Christchurch is home for us, so being part of the first NPC game at One NZ Stadium is pretty special. We're excited to come home, celebrate with the community, and perform in front of a home crowd on what will be an incredible night for red and black."

The opening-round clash will see the Canterbury NPC side begin the defence of their title against our old foes Auckland, but fans can expect much more than just the action on the field.

Canterbury Rugby General Manager of Stadium Strategy, Valentine Tauamiti, says the addition of a Shapeshifter DJ Set reflects the organisation's vision for what matchdays at One NZ Stadium can become.

"This is about creating an experience that goes well beyond the 80 minutes on the field. We want every Canterbury Rugby matchday to be a full entertainment experience for our community, and having a Shapeshifter DJ Set with P.Digsss and Nicky Research join us for our first game is the perfect way to set the tone."
