Part time position
Our purpose is to inspire a sense of belonging for all and we, alongside North Canterbury Rugby (a Sub Union of Canterbury rugby) are looking for a Game Developer – Coaching and Playing.
The Game Developer – Coaching and Playing (North Canterbury) will report to the CRFU Game Development Lead and will work as an integral part of the Game Development Team. With key responsibilities for growing capability of Coaches and Players within the North Canterbury community.
Hours for this role will vary depending on the time of year, ranging from a minimum of 20 hours per week up to 40 hours per week at peak times. Some flexibility around these hours can be discussed if required.
The successful candidate will work closely with the North Canterbury Rugby Sub Union Board, Clubs, Schools and the Canterbury Community Rugby Team. This role requires evening and weekend work on a regular basis.
Key Aspects of the role:
To facilitate opportunities for development to all players and coaches in clubs and schools through facilitation and/or delivery of NZR and other coaching courses and upskilling sessions. Lead and facilitate development opportunities for players and coaches in clubs and school, delivering NZR and other targeted coaching courses and upskilling sessions focused on performance and growth.
Deliver activities that grow and expose players to a rugby experience in primary schools, secondary schools, clubs and the wider community.
Assist with administrator, parent and community education programmes to raise awareness of our player development philosophies, particularly in junior and teenage rugby across the province.
To identify coaches and opportunities to develop as a coach at a higher level. Identify and nurture coaching talent, providing pathways for growth and progression to higher levels.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Previous experience in a similar role or extensive coaching experience.
A thorough knowledge of and demonstrated empathy with the volunteer sport environment.
Experience in delivering programs in a sporting environment, community or education space.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to effectively liaise with players, coaches, administrators, and other stakeholders.
