Our four U16 sides, Metro Red, Metro Black, Ellesmere and North Canterbury are set to compete in the South Island U16 Tournament this week right here in our own backyard.
The tournament brings together 16 teams from across the South Island, giving our young players the opportunity to represent their communities and experience representative rugby at the next level.
This year, Waihora RFC will host the tournament, welcoming teams from across the South Island for a big few days of rugby. Community Manager Michael Sheat said the tournament provides a valuable opportunity for young players to experience representative rugby on home soil.
“It’s a real privilege to host and give our young athletes their first opportunity to experience a representative pathway, playing against the best players from around the South Island.”
We encourage our rugby community to get behind the teams, head along to Waihora RFC and support them throughout the three day tournament.
