Who are who are who are we? Red and Black we're Canterbury!

Waiata with us is back, but this time we want to hear you CHANT! Canterbury we're calling on red and black supporters of all ages to raise their voices and show their provincial pride. Whether it’s a family affair, a full school choir, solo performance, or your club or workplace rallying together – we want to hear a waiata or chant that celebrates our province, and will cheer on our teams.

If you've been to our home games at One NZ Stadium this season you would have heard the team chant on the big screen led by Ngane Punivai that gets everyone up on their feet to welcome the team out. Now it's your turn...this is what we're after Canterbury, loud, proud, red and black fans! Record yourself performing the Canterbury chant, or use it as inspiration and come up with your own lyrics showing your provincial pride. Watch the team video here!

By posting to socials or sending in your rendition, you’ll go in the draw to win a truly extraordinary prize: a Takamine Guitar, hand-carved by Canterbury NPC player Andrew Knewstubb through his craft, Stubby’s Workshop. "Music connects people and this guitar is a symbol of exactly that, connection. It represents the bond between our Sub-unions, our Māori and Pasifika teams, our clubs and the entire rugby community, all together creating "music", a strong legacy that is Canterbury Rugby" said Knewstubb.

This guitar is more than just a prize– it’s a piece of Canterbury Rugby history. And that’s not all. The winner will also receive a Canterbury Rugby merch pack, tickets to our Semi Final at One New Zealand Stadium, and your video entry posted to our social media, giving the whole community the chance to celebrate your pride and creativity!
