This is Waitaha. It's Cultural Round in the Hilux NPC

What makes Canterbury Rugby special is the people who make up our community.

It’s the players who pull on the red and black, the whānau who fill the stands, the clubs and schools that create pathways, and the many cultures and communities that come together through our game.

Next Saturday, we bring all of that to One NZ Stadium as Canterbury takes on the Wellington Lions for Cultural Round, proudly supported by our match day partners Whitiora and Kate Valley Group (formerly Transwaste).

Cultural Round is an opportunity to recognise the people and cultures that make up the Canterbury Rugby community, while showcasing some of the incredible talent, traditions and connections that make our region unique- all alongside 80 minutes of exciting Hilux NPC action.

The next generation of Red & Black talent will take centre stage for the first time before the main event, with the Canterbury Under 18 Girls Red & Black teams going head-to-head in the curtain raiser.

Our Hilux NPC team will then receive a special welcome to the field, with students from Te Kura Whakapūmau and Whitiora formally welcoming the team ahead of kick-off at 7:10pm.

At half-time, the stadium will come alive with performances from the Te Kura Whakapūmau and Te Aratai College Polyfest group with more than 100 students bringing two unique expressions of culture to the One NZ Stadium stage.

And, as always, there’s plenty happening for our youngest fans. JC Construction are back with Take a Kid to Footy, with the first 300 kids to visit their team on the North Pad receiving a special Take a Kid to Footy pack. There’ll also be face painting, sign making, bouncy castles and more family-friendly fun around the stadium.

With kids tickets just $5, adults from $10 and family passes available for $45, it’s an affordable night out for the whole whānau.

So bring your family, bring your friends, wear your red and black and join us at One NZ Stadium as we come together to celebrate the people and cultures that make our community what it is.

This is Waitaha.
This is our culture.
This is our community.

This is not just rugby, this is Canterbury Rugby.
