Chief Financial Officer/Financial Accountant

The Canterbury Rugby Union (CRU) is one of New Zealand’s most recognised sporting organisations, with a proud history of delivering rugby, connections and experiences at all levels, from grassroots to grandstands.

We are seeking an experienced and capable Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Financial Accountant to join our team on a fixed-term basis, immediate start through to December 2026, providing maternity leave cover.  This is a part time role for approximately 3 days per week.

This role is focused on maintaining the organisation’s financial leadership, board reporting, reporting systems and operational effectiveness, ensuring business continuity while supporting the Executive team during an exciting period for Canterbury Rugby as we prepare for our new home at One NZ Stadium.

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified finance professional with a minimum of three years’ experience in a senior financial leadership position. You will bring strong people leadership skills, sound commercial judgement, excellent attention to detail and the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.

Working alongside a passionate, committed and hardworking team, you will be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery.
