Another first five-eighths off the Christchurch Boys' High School production line, Colin Slade is keen to make his own mark. Slade's handling, kicking and running abilities are reminiscent of Andrew Mehrtens, a comparison the modest Slade would no doubt distance himself from. Slade is studying for a BA in history and mass communications at the University of Canterbury. He played for the New Zealand Under-21 and Under-19 sides and last year was called into the All Blacks training group. Slade is also proficient at fullback - his defence and ability under the high ball are both excellent.
