The Canterbury Rugby Earthquake Relief Charitable trust has received a generous donation of $76,105 from the Toshiba Corporation in Japan.
The donation comprised of funds from the Toshiba rugby team who raised funds immediately after the Christchurch earthquake via a community collection and a significant contribution from the Toshiba Corporation
Canterbury Rugby Chairman and Trustee, David Rhodes was humbled to be presented with the donation by Toshiba President and CEO, Mr Sasaki at a recent function; “ I am honoured to receive this very generous donation on behalf of theCanterbury Rugby Earthquake Relief Charitable Trust, especially since Japan have had their own earthquake and tsunami to contend with. The donation will go towards assisting our stakeholders to repair infrastructure and importantly grow the game to pre-earthquake levels.”
The Canterbury Rugby Earthquake Relief Charitable Trust was established following the devastating February earthquake to help rebuild rugby in Canterbury. The trust’s goals are to help restore Canterbury Rugby’s infrastructure at all levels and to assist rugby clubs, players and communities affected by the Canterbury and Christchurch earthquakes.
