Canterbury’s Air New Zealand Cup winning coaches Rob Penney and Tabai Matson have been reappointed for next season.
The pair underwent the usual season-ending review process recently and the decision to reappoint them for next season was officially confirmed by the CRFU Board on Tuesday night.
It was Penney’s second Air New Zealand Cup success as head coach after he directed the team to the title last season. Former Canterbury and Crusaders centre Matson joined Canterbury as assistant coach this year after returning from a stint playing and coaching overseas.
Penney said: “As always it’s a real honour and privilege to be involved with Canterbury and I’m looking forward to working with this group again and continuing the good work that’s been done over the past 12 months.”
Matson said: “This year has been a great experience for me. Winning the Ranfurly Shield and Air New Zealand Cup title in my first year back is something I’ll always cherish.”
